The Castle’s Treasure | How to Get the Hylian Shield Without an Amiibo

Hi everyone! In this article I’ll show you how to find the treasure of Hyrule Castle, the Hylian Shield. If you’d rather watch than read, at the end of the page you’ll find the video guide from my YouTube channel.

How to Get the Hylian Shield

So, to get the Hylian Shield, which by the way is the strongest in the game with a defense value of 90, you’ll need to head to Hyrule Castle. Don’t worry if you’re not very far into the game – you don’t need much gear to reach the spot where the treasure is hidden.

Once you reach the castle, you’ll need to make your way to the dungeons. There are several ways to get there, so check the map below and plan out the route you think is best! In the video at the end, I show you one option.

This is where you will find the Hylian Shield

Unfortunately for us, the shield isn’t left unguarded: guarding the treasure is a massive Stalnox, a skeletal cyclops. What makes this monster unique is that to deal the finishing blow, you need to hit it in the eye. You can use the Stasis+ power of the Sheikah Slate to hold it still before it covers its eye with its hand.

Once defeated, all that’s left is to open the chest behind it. There you’ll find the Hylian Shield.

Unlike the Master Sword, unfortunately it isn’t indestructible – but once you’ve obtained it, a merchant in Daccapo Village will start selling an imitation.
